   Worker Welfare Activities

This has been a prime concern in tea gardens and hence housing, subsidized rate of food such as wheat, rice, medicines, umbrellas, and footwear etc. are common.

The extreme ill effects of chemical pesticides in the health are no more a suppressed problem but a surfaced problem. Removal of chemical pesticides has benefited the workers most who used to have the largest exposure to these chemicals. It was also thought that if organically produced food can be provided (as far as possible) to these people the cycle of benefit would be complete. Hence a project of growing and distributing free of cost vegetables and fruits in the garden was initiated. Program has been chalked out to include all the agriculture areas in Jalinga & Belseri garden to be brought under the technology of Inhana Biosciences  to produce organic food to meet the total requirement of the workers at the normal price. The chemical fertilizer money, which went outside the garden, is now used to pay workers to make compost. The team, which makes quality compost, is given prizes for motivating them.
